Tweet to Eat Campaign

Walkers Logo

Walkers are a British snack manufacture made famous for their crisps. Formed in 1948 Walkers currently hold 56% of the British crisp market. Since 2008 they have run it’s “Do Us a Flavour” campaign, challenging the public to think up unique flavours for its crisps.

Challenge

For this years “Do Us a Flavour” campaign, Walkers had an idea. They wanted to promote their new flavours across London using digital advertising screens to vend crisp in exchange for a social media interaction, the aim was to engage the public to vote for their favourite flavours in a fun and exciting way. This had not been done anywhere before and would therefore require a bespoke digital vending solution to be created.

The Solution

As part of the walkers “Tweet to Eat” campaign 10 Squared were engaged by Clear Channel to design an interactive, twitter activated, digital crisp vending machine to be integrated into existing bus shelters on the TFL estate.

With the exception of the video content, 10 Squared developed and produced the full solution inclusive of innovative product delivery system, stock monitoring & alert, microprocessor control system, public twitter feed integration, environmentally controlled sunlight readable screen and selective video content initialisation.

Outcome

10 Squared successfully designed and deployed the solution within 6 weeks. “Tweet to Eat” ran across various locations across London for 8 weeks and was seen as a very successful marketing campaign.

This complex and innovative solution led the way for 10 Squared to develop further brand led interactive kiosk experiences in public spaces including work with Three Mobile, Oreo, EE and Cancer Research UK.
